John Doyle (@nastyfreestyle) took last week’s dance class out into the street’s for a curbside performance. You can also tune into the full playlist from his class featuring tracks from MJ, Jomanda, Krazze and Robyn S right here.
Yup. This happened and it was awesome. If you’ve had fun at one of John’s prior classes, or want to get in on the next one, sign up for his May 20th workshop at CAP21 which will be filled with a wide range of dance jams and boogie steps focusing on creating a tight routine. Sign up here and please spread the love by telling a friend.
“ Q: Why do you write strong female characters?
A: Because you’re still asking me that question. ”
“ The Conversation about women’s bodies exists largely outside of us, while it is also directed at (and marketed to) us, and used to define and control us. The Conversation about women happens everywhere, publicly and privately. We are described and detailed, our faces and bodies analyzed and picked apart, our worth ascertained and ascribed based on the reduction of personhood to simple physical objectification. Our voices, our personhood, our potential, and our accomplishments are regularly minimized and muted. ”
Make it Count.
A friend of mine shot this exhilarating short for Nike. Around the world in 10 Days flat.
This is incredible. Hard to watch without booking a flight somewhere.
So cool. Every quote is amazing, too.
Idea to steal
Make a movie making app (this work well on the iPad) for kids that takes them through the filmmaking process from story conception to final product.
Every stage should include a review process at the end for the kid to go over what they’re doing with an adult (encourage grown-up/kid creative play).
I would have bought it!
And If you ever have a chance to ask an 8 year old to pitch you their film concept while you play the “studio head”, I highly recommend it. Even if you accidentally end up promising to put up a $100 budget.
Simply put…
